“Wake up from your sleep; climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light.”
-Ephesians 5:14 MSG
I’m not sure about you, but I’ve taken a long time climbing out of my pit. The darkness seems like an ally. Like our only chance of survival is to remain in the grave. We’re afraid to let go because letting go feels like telling the whole world about our sins, about the things we’ve kept hidden away.
But that feeling is a lie. God’s love is the truth. My Savior died so that I may be forgiven, and there’s a hand holding me when I face my past, and refuse to let it grow in the darkness any longer.
It seems like there will be shame on the other side of His light. A spotlight on a sinner doing the disgraceful. But there’s no condemnation in Christ. His light is shining for your redemption. It’s the way out of the darkness He promised us all. Looking to it won’t bring shame. It’ll bring freedom.
