Christ chose us

Updated: Nov 17, 2021

As I’ve read the crucifixion story over the last few months, something’s dawned on me that I didn’t really consider before: who Christ died along side of, specifically the man who received salvation. He wasn’t a disciple, or even a student of Christ’s new ministry as far as we know. He was the mission Christ came to fulfill, the one Christ chased down after leaving the ninety-nine. This bloody, beaten, and dying man experienced grace in the midst of judgment. This is God’s immeasurable grace, that He looked forward to forgive our sins, that no matter who we are or what the circumstances say, we can be promised a paradise. He died because He knew we wouldn’t be perfect and He wanted us anyway. Christ chose us. I don’t know a greater love than that.
