My goal for 2021 is to stay authentically connected to Jesus in every aspect of my life.
It started with the need to go on a journey within to discover who I had become up to this point of my life. I discovered that a part of me had learned to adapt to everyone else’s world, often compromising my own happiness for the desires of others.
I started paying attention to what makes me happy or sad. What sustained my joy and what drained my strength. I brought it daily before the Lord and allowed Him to bring me the help I needed to discover me in this new season.
The first part of this journey for me started with my self-image. I journaled all the things I loved about myself, and all the things I disliked.
As I pursued self-love, I discovered most of the dislikes were founded on other people’s opinion. I began to identify the core of what makes me-me, and decided that I would allow that part of me to shine again.
As I pursued self-discipline, I discovered the areas of myself that needed to be changed and sought out the tools necessary to help me improve in those areas.
Through all the process, one central theme kept running through my heart....the desire to be the best I could be. For me, that starts and ends with Jesus. I wanted Him to build me up in wisdom, to establish me in understanding and to fill me with precious and pleasant treasures that I could share with His world (Proverbs 24:3-4).
My hope is that throughout 2021, I stay so full of my authentic self in Him, that my cup overflows unto others.
Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.” Jeremiah 18:3-4
